Are you ready for a guessing game? As most of you know I set up a video monitor to catch the chicken egg thief. It's taken awhile but the guilty party has been identified as of this afternoon.
And I have decided to make this a contest. Whoever guesses right will receive a package in the mail filled with who knows what!!!!! :) Don't worry, nothing gross or disgusting.
All you have to do is leave your guess in the comments. I will write it down along with your name/blog and place it in a container. On Friday, October 15th 2010, a name will be drawn and I will inform the winner via my blog. As well as the winner announced, the answer will be revealed.
hint: You can think in or out of the box.
Curious to see your answers.
Happy guessing!!!!! :)

Can you guess the chain of events?
See this cow?
See this grabber thing?
After several minutes of thinking, the light bulb went on and out to the barn I went. Sure enough, in the horse/dog emergency kit there were the items I needed. Back into the house to take care of the cut.
I do believe I should probably buy some band aids and ointment for humans and keep them in the house. Thankfully I always make sure the animals have up to date medicines, ointments, bandages, etc.... Yup, maybe I should invest in an emergency kit for people! Ha Ha
Lesson learned about a Breyer cows horns. Might not be real but they can do some damage. :)
And even though a wound was involved, that cow is now off the shelf! I won!!

Funny how attached you get.
Last night I received an email from a dear friend. Actually, we have never met, but we are old souls together and we email each other as often as we can. She lives in New Mexico and had purchased and EBay item I had listed several years ago. We just clicked and our friendship was instant. I also have another dear friend who I met the same way.
Anyway back to what I was going to say. My friend informed me that one of her mules, Morgan, who was a rescue last year, passed away peacefully in the pasture. My tears were instant ( as I write this the eyes are watering). I had never met Morgan in person, but the day my friend sent me his picture I was in love with him. Just downright felt in my heart love. There was something about him that got into my soul. I though of him daily. He was kind and gentle even though he had been through some really bad times in his life.
After reading her email, wiping away the tears I realized how many animals have that I have never met, but have touched me. There is Sophie. Princess. Angel. Maddie. Albert. Boris. Franklin. Jack. Boone. Justin. And there are more. Most of you recognize their names because they are a part of your family. Though I have never met them and chances are probably won't, they have touched me.
Isn't it funny how just a picture and what you read can effect you? How they get into your heart. You know what I mean.
So to Morgan, rest in peace old boy.

A first for Southern Oregon
This coming Saturday, October 9th, in Ashland Oregon, will be the regions FIRST gay pride parade!! I was going to yack about something else, but the article in the online local newspaper caught my attention. A big smile crossed my face when I read the article. It is expected that 300 people are going to attend. Possibly more! Sadly I am sure there will be protesters and hope the event doesn't ugly. In past years I have seen the Gay Parade in San Francisco and to be honest, the air is filled with such fun and loving energy from those participating in the parade. The smiles are contagious!!!
I'm sure this post may offend some readers, and if you choose to no longer read my blog, well, I'll take it as you just not liking what you see and wanting to change the channel because you have a choice, but in my eyes, love is love whether it be heterosexual or homosexual. So long as both parties are of legal age.

That time of year!
Well, it's that time of year! What time you ask? Pumpkin time!!!! Today I bought the first of many pumpkins both for baked seeds and for donkeys to thoroughly enjoy. You should have seen the looks on Arnold and Cookie's faces when they saw me walking with pumpkin shells. They couldn't get to the fence fast enough. Here is Arnold enjoying his favorite treat.
And here is Cookie really devouring her shell.
Even though Mike ( on the right) doesn't much care for pumpkins, he just had to walk over to see what all the fuss was about. Right after I took this pic Cookie laid her ears back and chased Mike away. She gets very possessive concerning pumpkins!
And while I was enjoying watching the donkeys I noticed that the fungus thing is back on one of the oak trees. This is the only tree the fungus grows on. And every year it shows up for a short time then goes away. The donkeys or horses are not in the least bit interested in eating it.
By the end of the week the fungus will have grown all the way down the trunk of the tree.
And the Angels may just be answering my prayers about finding a place to rent that all the animals can come with me. I received a phone call this morning, and the gal I talked with has exactly what I need. The house isn't much, but I don't care about that. What is most important is enough property for everyone. The gal is going to come over and we are going to talk more in a few days.
Oh, and todays' temps are suppose to be in the 60's!Yes, the 60's!!! Sweeeeeet!

Storing for winter
It appears Fred, the resident ground squirrel, has been busy stashing winter food.
By the looks of this stash here he is doing a mighty fine job of storing.
