On the House & A List

Yesterday evening as I was coming into the house from feeding, out of the corner of my eye I noticed something on the house by the front door. As I looked closer it was a Praying Mantis! I haven't seen one in a few years so seeing this one on the house got me all excited.

Praying Mantis is a good omen. And he/she couldn't have shown up at a better time than now!

Thank you to all who left a comment about yesterdays post on fur. As Inger from Desert Canyon http://desertcanyonliving.blogspot.com/ said, reptiles are also included. Especially snakes. They are killed for their skin. Again, all in the name of fashion.
Also as Jabacue http://jabacue.blogspot.com/ mentioned, contacting the designers and letting them know that using fur/reptiles is wrong, is a way for them to realize just how many people are against the practice of killing for fashion.
I compiled a list of some of the designers who are using fur. Not all of them are selling in the United States, but they are selling their designs in Europe.
Gucci
Versace
Petit Nord
Prada
Odette Leblanc collection
Birger Christensen
Annika Heinadottir
Karl Lagerfeld
Glamour
Alta Moda
Christia
Olivieri
All of the above named designers can be found on the Internet as designers who use fur in their collections. Even though I cannot afford these designers clothing, it doesn't stop me from contacting them and letting them know that what they do is wrong. One voice becomes many.
Be prepared for the next post. It concerns saving our Mustangs!!
Until next time..........................

  1. Love the mantis! We used to have them at the other house (12 miles away) but there are none here. Walking sticks either - no idea why.

  2. Love seeing that mantis. I haven't seen one in several years. I love to hold them on my finger. Their little legs and feet hold on so tightly.

  3. Mantis is so cool, I haven't seen one in ages either.
It's amazing what you as an indiviual can do to stop things and make them better, a lot of people think, that is does not make a difference, but each one of us adds up and soon there are many and the more people talk about it the more people become aware.....there is a sign at the DSC fence stating..."Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" Margaret Mead.

  4. Totally agree! The more that contact the designers about the fur use, the more they will realise that its still not cool to use. It baffles me as to how people can purchase products knowing full well how it was made. Blood boiling.. YES!!!

  5. what's so sad is that we already changed this thing with fur. It's been out for years, or so I thought. So what happened? They just had to come up with something "new" again?

  6. Come to think of it, we haven't seen any praying mantises (what is the plural of praying mantis?!) here this year... strange!

Thanks for listing all of the designers who are using fur.

  8. He is definitely a good omen! Beautiful animals. I still laugh when I think of the time my female beardie, Adelaide, chomped down a praying mantis. I felt bad for the little guy but it was his mistake to taunt her and then get stupid and plant himself right in front of her tongue. He didn't last too long after that:) And, I love the quote Tina used in her comment above. I hope she doesn't mind but I am going to use it on my blog, as I love to collect and use great quotes.
