Bonnie has shown no signs of being broody so this was a surprise. Looks like she wants to be a mommy too!
This is going to be such a surprise when the eggs hatch and watching Little Inger and Bonnie raise 'their' babies together. And also what breeds the babies are going to be. For sure there will be White Silkies.
Hatch date is still no later than Feb 6. Figured we would still use that date since Bonnie is stealing eggs!
Until next time.....................
Oh man...that got me excited!! I thought I was going to see some hatchlings!! I am getting anxious to see what you get! I had a turkey sit in 30 eggs a couple of years ago and it was so funny to see her hatch almost every single one out and then see all those Guineas that had been snuck in on her. I don't think she had but 7 turkeys and the rest all guineas. Guineas are very lazy moms if they can find a surrogate! :)
ReplyDeleteHilarious! TWO broody hens...what fun! Little Inger is very patient to let Bonnie share the same nest box with her.
ReplyDeleteDebH-- 30 eggs under one turkey!!! That must have been a sight to see! Especially when most were guineas!! lol How funny that must have been.
ReplyDeleteDanni-- Little Inger ( the one who you carried around when you were here) is the most patient, wonderful little gal. I just love her dearly.
Huhum.... I have to defend "Bonnie".... she wasn't Stealing... as you put it. She was simply trying to help with a very important job! :-)OR add to the collection.... time will tell as to how many chicks you do have hatch out. Can't wait to see the pictures!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteStasser Equine ( Bonnie) - Yeah, yeah, that's it, Bonnie was trying to help. I'll go with that. lol Heck, I feel like a mother hen watching out for Little Inger, the eggs and now Bonnie! Getting really excited now.
ReplyDeleteHow very cute. We human mothers can learn from these two. Working mums, and stay at home (working) mums. should stop bashing one another and compliment each other.
ReplyDeletelovely blog!!!! you are as nuts about animals as I am
ReplyDeleteJohn Gray-- Thank you. Yup, animals are my life. Your blog is wonderful. Adding it to my favs.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting is this?!! Two momma hens, and soon baby chicks! I can't wait to see them. I was just telling my husband that I want to have chicks again, now I get to watch your new babies next month! Too cool!
ReplyDeleteRazzberry Corner--- I agree it is very exciting. This is Little Inger, Bonnie's and mine first go round with eggs, soon to be babies! I know I should let Mother Nature take her course, but, well, I can't help but fuss over them now. Fresh water close to them. Food with cracked corn mixed in the food bowl. And every afternoon a small bowl of goodies ( vegies, pasta, etc..). Tick tock. Tick tock.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Little Inger pinch a few eggs of her own? And now she's sharing! How cute is that? I just can't wait to see what all these chicks will look like.
ReplyDeleteCanyon Girl ( Big Inger)-- Yes, Little Inger did pinch some eggs of her own!! I am also very excited to see what the chicks are going to look like. With each passing day I get more and more excited!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I love the pictures of the girls all snuggled up and serious about this business. Heres hoping they hatch plenty to share.
