Help Yourself!

Normally I do not eat breakfast, but this morning a warmed up danish just sounded really good. As I was sitting here enjoying it and checking my ebay, company showed up. First it was Rodent(left) and Jovi (right). Rodent has never jumped up onto the table. Well, that is until this morning. Apparently he wanted a bite of danish too.
Before I knew it, Squirrel ( far left) and Ozzy ( far right) decided to join the other two. Ozzy is thinking that the danish is looking pretty tasty!

Jovi dives in and takes the first bite.

Since Jovi took a bite, Squirrel takes one.

Looks like my 'company' is enjoying breakfast.
The kittens and cats know that they are not allowed on the table while we are eating. It is a no no. I must have just been really tired, or amused, since all I did was sit back, grab the camera and take pics. What danish they didn't eat was given to the chickens.
Until next time....................

Stop it! I'll do it!! I mean it!!!

Ah, kittens! Stop touching me! Just stop it!!!!
I mean it! If you touch me again I am going to beat you up!

I am not kidding! Don't even think about touching me! You'll be sorry! I'll do it!!

I told you that you would be sorry! Now I am going to kick you butt!!!
Nothing like having rotten kittens in the house!
Until next time...................

Digging Ditches!

For once I did not heed the weather forecast. Last night when I checked, it said there was a 90% chance of rain. Yeah, right! Heck yesterday morning it said we were going to get 20-30 mph winds. Did we, not here. We live in what us locals call a 'pocket', which means we don't always get the same weather as everyone else here in the valley. But I do try to be prepared just in case. Well, guess what? Yup, it started pouring in the middle of the night. When I went out to feed, the water was running in mini rivers all over the place and the donkeys that have full run of both pastures were standing in the breezeway to get out of the rain. Out in the stall area it was flooding! Great! Should have been prepared. Darn it!!!
After digging ditches, laying down these pipes to make the water go into them and away from the breezeway, the standing water started to drain. Yay!!!! What a mess!

A quick update of Squirrel and Jovi after surgery yesterday. Here is Jovi getting ready to curl up by the heat vent.

And Squirrel just wanting to be near someone.
The surgeries went well and these two rascally kittens will be back to normal in a few days.
I have already been telling Rodent that next Monday it's his turn!!!
Until next time.......................

Those Rascally Kittens!

The kittens have been little rascals this morning! This is what I woke up to this morning. A paper mess.
Awww, look how cute they are playing.

Jovi checking to make sure there is nothing inside the boot.

Ah ha!!!!! Hmmm, I wonder who is partially responsible for the paper mess. Couldn't be Rodent could it?

No wonder Squirrel, Rodent and Jovi are hungry. All that playing and paper shredding makes one very hungry.
Those silly little rascals.
Until next time...........................

Another Small Step Forward

Rodent, one of the rescued kittens, who has been very shy and almost unseen decided last evening that being a part of the family was worth a try. Jovi, the grey kitten in the front of the picture has come a long way. I actually petted the little booger the other night! Although I have to admit it was kind of sneaky on my part. He had jumped up onto one of the counters snooping around and while he was perusing I ran my hand down his back. He didn't move so I did it again. And once more. The fourth time he arched his back the way cats do when it feels good. Well, that was it. He turned around, realized he had been touched and took off! Although he didn't go very far.
Anyway, back to Rodent. You can see him behind Ozzy. This is the first time Rodent has stayed in the same room as us for any length of time. Even after a few snaps of the camera he continued to stay there! Slowly but surely he is continuing to take baby steps forward. Wonder what he is going to do when the tree comes down. Hmmmm. Guess we will find out soon enough.

Until next time......................................

Kittens are a growin'

It's been awhile since you have seen pics of the kittens. My goodness they are growing both physically and emotionally.
Can you see how big Squirrel is getting? She is now a self proclaimed Diva! Just ask her! She has to be everywhere we are. Lately her favorite spot is right next to Holly while she is preparing for her finals.
Rodent is growing very well. Although, well, must admit quite the challenge emotionally. I still do not know if Rodent is a he or a she! When it is just myself at home, Rodent comes out and watches everything intently. With more time and patience, Rodent will come around and be just like the rest of the spoiled rotten animals here.

Last but not least here is Jovi. My goodness he has come around. He now curls up next to one of us. Is curious about everything we do. And thanks to Squirrel aka the Diva, he now knows when it is dinner time for us because he sits under the table waiting for a tidbit.
Next month all three are getting spayed and/or neutered. Whether Rodent is ready or not to be touched, well, getting fixed is going to happen!
Until next time.......................

Kittens!

I know I said that today there would be pictures of old buildings that are around here. But, after three weeks, the two rescued kittens have begun to emerge and be somewhat seen now. Couldn't resist taking a few pics so you can see them now. Oh, and the two kittens have official names! This is Squirrel. The first kitten rescue of the litter. She is one very spoiled girl!
This is Rodent. Still don't know if Rodent is female or male. In time we'll find out.

I still see you behind the stove!!!!

This is Jovi. He is the one who is behind the stove in the above picture. Jovi is getting friendlier with each passing day.
Squirrel, Rodent and Jovi are all siblings who were caught up at my favorite feed store. Squirrel was younger when we brought her home so getting her socialized was easy. However, Rodent and Jovi were older hence their reluctance to be friendly.
It's ok. They can take all the time they need to find out that we will not hurt them. And once they find that out, they will also become little 'pet me, play with me' monsters.
Until next time.......................

A Cupboard Surprise!

The kitten on the left has been named....finally! Still don't know if it is male or female so needed a name that would go with either. Ready for the name? Are you sure? ( Drum roll)..................introducing.........Rodent! Are you shaking your head?Ha Ha After two weeks of them being here and trying to think of a perfect name, the name Rodent popped into my head the other day. I figured I'd give the name a few days to see if it was the right one. Yup, Rodent it is. My oldest daughter was going to take the kitten on the right, but circumstances have prevented her from taking hers home. So, you guessed it, the kitten on the right is staying.
Look what I found in the cupboard this morning! Was getting ready to start making jerky, opened the door to see a kitten. Once I realized one of the kittens was in there, I closed the door, got my camera, opened the door and took this picture as well as two more.

Well, at least I know both kittens are wandering and familiarizing themselves with the house.

They are both still on the wild side, but getting a little better with each passing day.

Since I disturbed the kitten from the one side of the cupboard, he decided to crawl out of the drainer and try to hide behind plastic containers. Um, I can see you!!!!!

After a few minutes the kitten jumped out of the cupboard, took off to the living room and 'hid' between the chair and ottoman. Yup, sorry, I still see you!!!
Didn't like the idea of my dishes/bowls being crawled into or stepped into with little kitten feet that have been in the kitty box, so every dish/bowl got washed.
Until next time..................................

Did it AGAIN!!! Or Help Name The New Addition.

Today was a good day to clean the gutters above the stalls. Rain is in the forecast and with the leaves falling, it was time to make sure the gutters will do their job. My goodness they were full of leaves and acorns and icky black stuff. I wear disposable rubber gloves to clean the gutters out.
Finally, both sides of the stall barn gutters are clean and ready for the rain. Yay!!!

Here is what it looks like around here every evening. Such a tough life they have!! Squirrel in on the love seat while Ozzy is stretched out on the coffee table. The gray furry thing on the back of the loveseat is not alive. It is a plush Snauzer. Told my kids when I get to be really old I want a Snauzer for a dog and will name it Winston. They all laughed so bought me a fake Winston for now.

Yup, you are seeing the picture right. Those are two kittens inside that box. Two kittens that came from my favorite feed store. Had to go up there today to get some hay and grain. My oldest daughter went with me and she was walking around the store. Then it was, " Mom, you need to come over here." I did. And there were these two kittens in separate cages. And they looked a lot like Squirrel! You guessed it, these two were caught last night and they are from the same litter as Squirrel! As you can see, Squirrel is checking out her brothers/sisters. We don't know if they are male or female yet due to them being totally wild.
The kitten on the left I am keeping and the one on the right my daughter is taking home.
Not sure if you can see the differance in Squirrel compared to her siblings. Her siblings are skinny, filthy, full of ear mites and wild as all heck.

This is Ozzy's reaction to another kitten in the house. I do believe his look says it all!
No name for the kitten I am keeping. Any suggestions?
Until next time............................

A Squirrel Grows In Oregon

It's been awhile since I talked about our Squirrel. This picture is of the day I brought her home ( August 31). She was about five or six weeks old. Complete with ear mites and an eye infection. She is starting to grow. And get very curious about everything!
Her favorite 'toy' is still the two fake trees in the house. In fact, one of the trees looks like it is starting to lose its leaves just like the real outside ones do.

And boy can our Squirrel jump! This picture it looks like she is climbing up onto the furniture, but she is jumping to get her toy we use to play with her.

Squirrel coming down from one of her high jumps.

Here is what she looks like today. She thinks she is a dog! No kidding. When the dogs come running into the kitchen, there is Squirrel in the midst of them.
Our Squirrel is growing up so fast. Nothing like having a kitten in the house!
Until next time.........................
